Keep the list beside your messages
Aerogram offers side by side reading in wide windows. Full width reading remains the default, with a temporary expanded view for conversations that need more room.
How this helps
Browse messages while keeping your place in the list. Move between conversations, adjust the reader’s space and return to the same list position when you go back.
A practical example
You browse appointment confirmations: the list stays visible while you read, then you expand the reader for a longer message. Return to the side by side view to carry on.
In practice
Open Settings → Appearance and use → Reading and choose Full width reading or Side by side reading. In a sufficiently wide window, the second mode shows the list and conversation together. Drag the divider, or focus it with the keyboard and use the left and right arrows. The reader buttons let you expand it and return to side by side reading.
The preference stays in this browser for your Aerogram workspace and this site address. It does not carry over to other devices. On a phone or in a narrow window, the conversation uses the full width without clearing your saved choice. Switching layouts keeps your draft, content already loaded and image permissions.
Ticking a conversation’s checkbox does not open it. Ticked boxes, the displayed conversation and keyboard focus keep separate roles. Archiving, deleting or explicitly marking the open conversation unread closes it without automatically opening the next message.
In the message information, the buttons beside From and Date copy the sender’s email address alone or the complete date as displayed in the current language. Confirmation appears after copying succeeds; a clipboard refusal lets you try again. The buttons remain accessible on mobile.
Staging preview, 13 October 2026: the icons show two or three reading areas with a narrow sidebar. The current folder or tag remains visible in side-by-side reading. Sort and filter uses the same icon on desktop and mobile, with separate indicators for sorting and filters. Copy buttons follow the address or date. Click or tap the empty search field to find saved searches; with the keyboard, Arrow Down opens the list and focus alone stays quiet.
